New Appointment System
We have some exciting news about a significant change to our appointment system that will improve how Market Quarter Medical Practice delivers healthcare services to you as of 4th November 2024! – we are moving to a total triage appointment system.
Total triage is the new approach recommended by NHS England to improve accessibility to Primary Care Services. The main objectives are to enhance the quality of care our patients receive, to ensure that they are given the most appropriate appointment or advice to meet their needs and that this is done in a timely way. This is also to ensure patients can be treated for acute queries sooner rather than later and to secure pre-bookable appointments for ongoing care related issues.
You will no longer need to queue up at 8am for an appointment and although doctors will be dealing with more patients and may be busier than usual, this change has been put in place so that we as a practice can provide even better care for our patients sooner rather than later.
We must stress that same day appointments are normally for acute queries. We are not an emergency service so for any life-threatening emergencies, patients will still need to call 999 or go to Accident and Emergency or call 111.
For all urgent and non-urgent queries, patients MUST complete a request form via our website. This will be accessible from 8am – 4pm, Monday – Friday (except weekends and bank holidays). Outside of these times patients will need either complete a request form via our website from 8am the next working day if the query is not urgent, or contact Out of Hours or NHS 111 for advice on urgent health related queries.
Total triage has been introduced to primary care by NHS England to improve Access and Capacity needs of patients. This has already been tried and proven to be a success at many other practices.
We are looking forward to Total Triage going live on 4th November 2024 and we have full faith that you as patients will benefit from this new system.
